Olga Munroe

About the Author
Olga Munroe studied literature at the University of Warsaw, where she earned her Master’s degree with a thesis in comparative Gothic literature. Her short fiction has appeared in Litro New York (2018) and the U.S. anthology Ink Stains (2016), with received awards from the regional Writers Circle.
In recent years, Munroe has focused on completing her Gothic novel, The Merchant of Forbidden Books—a work of historical fiction set in seventeenth-century Poland. The narrative centres on the life of Polish philosopher Casimir Liszinski, who was persecuted for his atheistic beliefs. The novel explores the enduring tensions between religious ideology and scientific literacy, highlighting how these notions are seamlessly woven into the fabric of society, continuously shaping contemporary debates about gender, human rights, social justice, and epistemological freedoms.
